One of our most popular teaching tanks is the Mobile 50-Gallon Classroom Touch Tank. This versatile Touch Tank was designed through a collaborative effort amongst Marine Ecological Habitats, Touch Tanks for Kids and the Penobscot Marine Museum of Searsport, Maine. The Mobile Touch Tank provides a long-term aquatic teaching habitat that can be easily moved by two adults from one location to another.
Construction
The Mobile 50-Gallon Touch Tank is a popular Touch Tank that provides a long-term aquatic habitat and can be easily moved from classroom to classroom, it’s overall size is 54 ” long x 26″ wide x 35 1/4″ high. This is ideal for teaching programs where the tank may actually have to be moved from classroom to classroom, or even from school to school.The top of the tank is manufactured out of .75” thick clear acrylic. With proper care, this material is very durable. The base is manufactured with .75” polypropylene. This material is categorized in the mechanical plastics family. It is durable, however not transparent like acrylic.

Transportation, Set-up & Maintenance:
Transporting and caring for the Mobile 50-Gallon Classroom Touch Tank requires attention and care. The tank must be moved delicately and must never be dropped. The base includes caster for easy movement a crossed a flat surface. The tank may be moved separate from the base or as a unit.
Operation
The water is circulated through a Blueline 30HD 850GPH 115v sealed motor housing water pump and directed through a superior filtration system that includes: a bio-filtration bed, a counter current air driven protein skimmer, a carbon canister that holds the carbon media bag and the carbon media in place that pulls organic molecules out of the water, yielding cleaner water, pelleted carbon is recommended.
